What acne system works better?
I have tried proactive and i have tried differin and all those other cleansers. i recently have bought the “clean and clear Spot treatment.” not the whole kit just the spot treatment and it is working miracles it keeps my acne down. i only leaves faint red spots due to blemishes and scars. my question is what has worked better for everyone between the “neutrogena complete acne therapy system or the clean and clear advantage kit.’ im debating on going to the clean and clear because the spot treatment is working really well or if the neutrogena is actually all around better for clearing up blemishes, scars, acne. and leaving your skin soft and clear. the neutrogena has slightly better reviews. it has almost 4 out of my stars and the clean and clear has about 3 out of 5. neutrogena is also a bit more expensive. I am just curious on what has worked better for people that have tried one of these or both. Answers are greatly appreciated thank you. 10 points to the best review answer.

I can say from experience that Neutrogena products have worked great for me-even when proactive didn’t. Everyone is a little different, and what works great for some won’t work great for everyone, that is why there is so many different products out there. Why not give the clean and clear system a try, esp since the spot treatment is doing well for you?
After I got my acne under control (or grew out of it, or maybe it was the birth control hormones? I don’t know what stopped it altogether but acne meds helped) I turned to neutrogenas healthy skin face lotions, the ones with the alpha hydroxy acid in it. It helps fade those marks on your face left by acne–not pockmarks, but the other little marks you have left behind if you liked to pick at them like I used to lol. Neutrogenas lotions are light and easy to use everyday and although it is very gradual it helped even out my skin a lot and fade those old scars!

Opinion needed: Treatment for scars and dark underarms?
I have quite a few scars on my arms and legs from random acne. I also have dark underarms, as in the actual skin is darker than the rest of me. I’ve managed to lighten them quite a bit but now I’m thinking of getting topical products to get them back to their original colour. I’ve heard glycolic acid and other AHA’s are good. I had a 10% glycolic acid cream which I did use but at that time I didn’t know how to use it properly so I ended up wasting most of it. I’m not able to get that cream again so I was wondering does this cream seem like it would be effective on dark underarms/pigmentation problems?

Thanks..
It’s just that I don’t want to spend £40 on a cream that doesn’t work…I’ve had a look at internet reviews and it does seem good but my question is mostly asking about dark underarms.

I would use bio oil, its commonly used for stretch marks but it is also for evening out skin tone and improving the appearance of scars.
I can’t speak for skin tone problems but i know it worked wonders on my stretch marks. Mine were so bad, honestly they looked like knife wounds they were so purple and red and angry looking and now they are almost gone. Please though don’t expect miracles after a week though, it took a good 3 months but there was a great improvement after 6 months even better. It is not too expensive especially considering that it does actually work! Get the big one i think it works out cheaper than buying multiple small ones. Use everyday after showering and massage in gently.

Which cleanser/products should I purchase?
I washed and waxed my uncle’s truck this past weekend, and he gave me $35. I save the small weekly allowance that I get, and because I’m in need of some new skincare products, I wanted to head over to my local Walgreens to buy me a new cleanser, and possibly a few other products. Walgreens is also great because I’m only 16 and dig great deals!
I have pretty normal skin, but this past year I moved from a dry climate to a humid climate. Before my skin was pretty much perfect, and I’d break out once or twice every couple of months. Now, I always have little flesh-colored bumps around my chin, there are blotchy spots and pinkish scars, and I’ve been getting very painful, large cystic pimples. I’ve tried quite a few products, I’ve tried not using anything, and so far nothing works. All the cleansers I have tried do nothing to prevent the acne, so I’m really wanting to find a good cleanser.
Which cleanser should I purchase: ‘Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser’ or ‘Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Cleanser’?
If you have any other suggestions, that would be great!
I was also going to purchase ‘Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment‘, as it has received excellent reviews. The ‘Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque’ has good reviews as well, and is pretty cheap.
Any comments about these products?
So, would a good acne fighting/preventing routine be using one of the above cleansers, toning with witch hazel, applying oil-free moisturizer, and apply the 3-in-1 acne treatment twice a day? And then to exfoliate 2-3 times a week with St. Ives Apricot Scrub (this does nothing for my acne, but it leaves my skin really smooth and refreshed) and use the Mint Julep mask once a week and as a spot treatment overnight?
I’m trying to keep my routine a little more consistent and gentle then it’s been lately, and I also want to get rid of these annoying, painful pimples without seeing a dermatologist!
Oh, and has anyone tried the mask sheets from The Face Shop? You can buy these from Walgreens now, and they look pretty interesting.
Any and all tips and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
I really don’t have the money to buy anything expensive. If I could I would, but there is no way I have enough cash to splurge on stuff like that, nor do my parents.
I’m kind of stuck at Walgreens/Walmart here =/
Right now, all I do is wash my face twice a day, and follow that up with an all natural witch hazel toner and an oil-free moisturizer. The cleanser is called PanOxyl, and it’s the only acne product I’ve been using because most spot treatments are too harsh and make my skin itchy/red.
I’m a vegetarian, so I eat well.
Maybe it’s just hormones. =[

STOP!!! Stop, stop, stop.
You are washing your face way too often and using way too many products that don’t work with each other.
You are stripping your skin of its natural oils which is why your acne is getting worse.
You only need to wash your face when you wake up, and before you go to bed, moisturizing each time.
Drink more water, eat raw fruits and vegetables, keep your hands away from your face, and use the same brand of one cleanser, one moisturizer, and one spot treater for big blemishes. The Neutrogena brand has products for each of these.

Carol asks…
was this unhealthy for my face?
I ran out of acne treatment, So I went into my sister’s room and took her prescription. It was really strong. Benzoyl Peroxide 10%. I used it for about a week and it really cleared my skin. For the last 2 or 3 nights, its been giving my skin really dry skin. I continued to use it but just used a little less than usual. Yesterday morning I woke up and my chin was super super dry. I put lotion on it throughout the day and it helped. But it’s still really Dry. There is one dry spot on my chin that has an irritated little red mark on it too. I was really frustrated so I went to go put the product back into my sister’s room. She was in there so I told her I was sorry I took it but I needed it. She said I was stupid because it was a prescription and because it can have “negative effects on my skin because my skin is different than hers.” I do have really soft skin and it easily scars, unfortunately. Is there a way to get rid of the dryness and the red mark on my chin?
I went on this site and everyone said they had the same problem with the product:

admin answers:
Well, it’s a super high amount of Bezoyl Perozide, which even in small doses dries out your skin. Having soft, sensitive skin won’t help. I think that if you abstain from using it anymore, continue with a good lotion for sensitive skin (try evian or clinique), wash your face with only lukewarm water (yes, no soap!), and use a cold cream mask every night, your skin should return to normal soon enough.
If not, go to a dermotologist… She’ll be able to give you a stronger healing cream.

I have the same problem that u do but once i met a dermatologist at my job and she told me that the best thing to get ride of those ugly scars forever is to do a dermabrasion, anything else will be just a waste of money, so try it out if u would, but i would recommend u talk to a dermatologist and ask the wut will b the best for ur skin type and problem
