Your Questions About Homemade Acne Scar Remedies

Betty asks…

What are some good recipes for natural cleansers/etc for oily, sensitive, and acne-prone skin?

I am trying to cut back on costs and I decided I want to use natural, possibly homemade remedies for my skin. So, could somebody give me tips/recipes of the following (or just one of the following would be very helpful):
Cleanser (if possible, in the form of a bar soap, but if not, it needs to be something convenient. I’m a student)
Toner
Moisturizer
Weekly mask
Weekly exfoliant
Acne scar treatment (eek. bio oil certainly sounds nice, but at $20 a bottle I can’t afford it now)

To go more into detail about my skin, my skin gets very oily when I wear makeup, and only oily around my nose (and the cheek area surrounding my nose, but not my whole cheeks) without makeup. It dries out very easily, and most cleansers leave my skin with redness. The redness subsides after about an hour, but I do have to wash my face in mornings and I don’t have time to really get up an hour earlier than I need to, lol. And, the worst part… I have acne. My worst problem is papules/pustules. I also have blackheads, and I know they are disgusting, but they aren’t my worst concern. I also have scarring from past breakouts. I know my question is long, but thanks to anybody who can answer/help me. I really appreciate it, and my skin will too.

Hello there,

There are three really important things you can do immediately to help stop breakouts with out dishing out allot of money.

1. Exercise, this helps you sweat and exfoliate your skin. Remember when you exercise the more you sweat the more your are doing for your skin. It makes no sense to exercise and not sweat hard.

2.Watch what your eating,( i.e. Sweets, sodas) something in your food could possibly be the cause of your breakouts. Also stress has been linked to cause breakouts too.

3. Take a visit to your dermatologist about prescribing you some medication.

4. Find a really good Anti-bacterial soap. I use Neem soap. It’s very good on the skin, fights the bacteria thats deep in your pores, and leaves it feeling really clean and glowing. This is a good site to find it …Ethnic Foods Company

After you’ve done these really effective things you can go purchase Aloe Vera Leaf. Its natural, fresh and cost no more than $2 bucks. You can find the m at your local farmers market or Publix. If you cut it open and apply it to your skin it has anti-inflammatory properties that will help heal your skin very quickly, and minimize the appearance of dark spots. Trust me out of all of the medication I’ve tried, this is the only thing that I swear by. Its cheap and it actually works. Try this first before you go buying any spot medication, they are usually just gimmicks and people waste allot of money on them every year.

The bottom line is if you want to fight your acne successfully and win your gonna need to be prepared to dish out some money, especially if you want to win the war on acne.

Preventing Skin Discoloration

One of the first and the most noticeable after-effect of a pimple is the skin discoloration where the acne used to be. They are generally darker than the actual skin tone, but this discoloration will usually disappear within a year’s time.

There are also treatments to speeding up the removal of skin discoloration. Treinoin, Alpha and Beta-Hydroxy Acids are common cures for speeding up the process of healing of the skin, and make the discoloration on the skin disappear faster.

Surgical Solutions

Skin discoloration brought about by acne does not often result in deep scars. However, for very deep and very visible acne scars, surgical solutions will be a more effective way of obscuring these scars or making them disappear altogether.

There are a variety of these treatments for acne scars, usually depending on the type of scar on the skin. There’s punch excision, which is used on very deep scars such as ‘icepick scars’ or ‘boxcar scars’. This involves the excision of the scar and then the edges of the skin are sutured together.

Meanwhile, laser resurfacing is a treatment that burns the skin up to a certain level. As the skin heals, new skin would then develop which eventually obscures the area where the scar used to be.

Fillers may also be used to fill in the depressed parts of the skin due to scarring. Fillers used come in different varieties such as collagen and fat. However, the effects of dermal fillers aren’t as long term as the others that were mentioned previously. Dermal fillers require regular re-injections to maintain the smoothing effects on the skin.

How to get rid of blemishes?

I have these random dark spots on my chin and on the sides of my nose from accidentally popped pimples from months ago. I guess that can be called acne scars? Anyways, I also have these dark spots or blemishes on my nose from 2 old pimples that didn’t pop but kind of deflated into a dark blemish. How do i get rid of them?

Any cream or homemade remedies? Does lemon juice and honey really work as well as everyone says it does?

Joseph asks…

Help with acne scars please?

Hi, when i turned 19 in May, all of a sudden a-lot of pimples started coming. Few on the forehead, then on cheeks

some left, some came back, big ones grew (the ones with the puss coming out) and i think they are starting to go away because i tried some homemade remedies,

but on my cheek there are 3 little dark dots, u cant even take them out by scartching it or using soap.

does any1 know when they will go away?

i heard mederma will work, or som1 else told me that in time they will fade. Please help me, i dont want these dark things on my cheek anymore, and im already over-weight, i dont need people criticising me on my pimples/spots too

I have had the same problem. Baisically when u pop a pimple too early it will leave a crater in ur skin or (SCAR) u are referring it as. U should onyl pop them when the puss of hte pimple is visible. Usually the scars will fade away if u spend some time in the sun and also u dont scratch ur face. So i would say 2- 6 months.
